1. Who we are
KooKoo is the data controller for the personal information you provide on this site. We are a Delaware C-Corporation with a regional operating subsidiary in Dominica. For privacy matters, contact info@kookoo.one.
2. What we collect
When you signal a route, join a pool, book a call, or contact us, we collect: your name and email; the corridor and dates you're interested in; payment details (held by our payment processor — we do not store card data); device and browser information for security and analytics; and KYC details when required by an operator or jurisdiction. We never collect more than we need to make a flight confirm.
3. Why we collect it
We use your information to: confirm flights based on aggregated community demand; communicate pool status, lock-by deadlines, and confirmation; release funds from escrow on dispatch; comply with aviation, KYC, and consumer-protection regulation; protect against fraud and abuse; and improve the platform with privacy-preserving analytics.
4. The demand-signal layer
Your route signal is the core data that makes new corridors viable. We aggregate signals across all participants to identify routes the community needs. Aggregate, anonymized signals may be shared with verified operators to plan capacity. Your individual identity is never sold and never shared with operators until you confirm a seat.
5. Who we share with
We share personal data only with: the verified charter operator on a confirmed pool (name, contact, KYC if required); our independent escrow trustee (financial details); our payment processor (Stripe / equivalent); legal authorities where required by law. We never sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
6. Where data is stored
Data is stored in encrypted infrastructure in the United States and the European Union. Where data is transferred between regions, we use Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your rights. Caribbean residents using KooKoo agree to data being processed in these regions for the purposes described above.
7. How long we keep it
Pool participation records are retained for seven years to satisfy aviation and tax record-keeping requirements. Communication and account data is retained while your account is active and for 24 months after the last interaction. You can request deletion at any time, subject to retention required by law.
8. Your rights
You can: access the data we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; request deletion (subject to legal retention); withdraw consent for marketing; object to processing on legitimate-interest grounds; export your data in a portable format; complain to your local data protection authority. 9. Cookies and tracking
We use a small set of essential cookies for security, session management, and pool state. We use a privacy-preserving analytics tool that does not set tracking cookies. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. See our Cookies policy for the full list and how to opt out.
10. Children
KooKoo is not directed at children. You must be 18 or older to commit funds to a pool. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided data, contact info@kookoo.one and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated to active users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version and last-updated date are always shown at the top of this page.
